Lufthansa Technik Invests in Airbus A350 Support
Posted: 2015 Dec 17

Preparing for the future support requirements for the Airbus A350, Lufthansa Technik has begun expansion work for a new highly modern warehouse for the spare parts supply for widebody jetliner at its Munich location. "What simply looks like a hall actually is an important cornerstone in our approach to supporting the Airbus A350," said Dr. Thomas Stüger. "A highly modern and technologically advanced aircraft such as the A350 places high demands on us. Today proves that we are well on the way to offer a comprehensive and punctual support for the A350."

The futuristic and expanded warehouse will see the use of the most modern and innovative storage technologies that will allow for the optimised the utilisation of both floor space and room height. Towards this end the existing warehouse of Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services (LTLS) is being expanded by 3,200 square meters of floor space and will be optimised for the A350 support amongst other things. The first stage of the expansion will see the installation of new automated block storage system called AutoStore. This will allow room for the storage of 15,000 bins and the ability to expand the system by another 7,000 bins.
