Turkish Airlines Selects Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan Engines for A321 Order

Turkish Airlines has chosen Pratt & Whitney, to deliver its PurePower PW1100G-JM engines to power 92 A321neo aircraft, that the airline has placed orders for with Airbus. The orders was split into firm orders for 72 A321s, with options for 20 more and deliveries scheduled to begin in 2018.

“We look forward to delivering game-changing results in fuel consumption, emissions reduction and noise reduction without compromise,” said Greg Gernhardt, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines. The A320neo, powered by PurePower engines, received joint Type Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in November. Till date, more than 36,000 cycles and 20,000 hours of testing have been performed on the PurePower engine family.
