Abu Dhabi Airports Upgrades with Technologies from SITA
Posted: 2016 Jan 07

Abu Dhabi International Airport which accommodated over 20 million passengers in 2014 has chosen global IT provider SITA to upgrade the airport’s entire IT infrastructure. Abu Dhabi International Airport’s (AUH’s) three terminals will receive technology upgrades with the latest in technology. “Abu Dhabi International Airport continues to experience double-digit passenger growth and therefore we are investing in new airport facilities that will allow us to accommodate the forecast future increase in passengers. In order to achieve this, we require a trusted technology partner, such as SITA, to provide one-stop, integrated IT solutions across the airport,” said Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operations Officer, Abu Dhabi Airports.

The five-year contract, calls for SITA to implement their Airport Management solutions, SITA AirportConnect Open and Bag Manager. With AirportConnect Open can still have access to their own data, while at the same time sharing check-in areas, kiosks and boarding areas. New automated boarding gates and flight information display systems will also be installed at the airport as it seeks to upgrade its capacity to handle 45 million passengers by 2017. SITA will also work to upgrade the entire IT infrastructure at the airport to the same standard as those being implementing in the new Midfield Terminal Building, which is currently under construction.
