Maiden Flight for Singapore Airlines’ First A350 XWB
Posted: 2016 Feb 05

The first A350-900 destined for Singapore Airlines has successfully completed its maiden flight over the skies of South West France. The new generation jetliner will be delivered to the airline over the next few weeks and us currently in the final phase of production.

The A350 XWB will be a vital part of the Singapore Airlines’ mid-size widebody fleet, with orders having been placed for 67 A350-900. The airline plans to operate some of its A350s on long range flights, as well as on selected regional routes. Seven of the aircraft will be delivered with an ultra-long range capability for flights of up to 19 hours, allowing the carrier to resume non-stop flights to the US.

The A350 XWB promises to deliver a 25 per cent reduction in fuel burn and emissions, and significantly lower maintenance costs. Airbus has received 777 firm orders for the type, from 41 customers worldwide.
