The development of a certified cockpit mount installation for Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Tablet equipment, has been awarded by Emirates to AFI KLM E&M. The contract calls for AFI KLM E&M to engineer the cockpit integration of the EFB tablet specified by Emirates, including installation design, ergonomic, and certification of the mounts and cradle system.
“The expertise of our Avionics engineering teams is rooted in their in-depth knowledge of EFB installation solutions developed for Air France. This was essential to win the competitive tender campaign organised by Emirates for this retrofit,” said Jean-Michel Picard, VP Sales Middle-East & Africa for AFI KLM E&M. Both firms already have an existing relationship with AFI KLM E&M providing Emirates with various engineering services, including cabin modifications and components services.
Emirates operates a Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 fleet numbering over 200 aircraft totally and retrofit solution will support both aircraft types. EFBs are basically a touchscreen tablet computer used in the cockpit, that contains all the aircraft’s flight and ground information documentation for pilots.
