MTU Maintenance has signed an exclusive 5-year contract for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of seven V2500-A5-powered aircraft on lease with Mexican low cost carrier VivaAerobus.
Since it started MRO services for V2500 engines in 1989, the German-based service provider for commercial aero engines has already performed more than 4,000 shop visits for the propulsion system.
MTU Maintenance will be providing VivaAerobus with its Total Engine Care (TEC®) package which also includes accessory repair, LRU management, MTU’s proprietary early detection system MTUPlus Engine Trend Monitoring, spare engine support as well as customized on-site training.
VivaAerobus has been sending CFM56-3 engines of its Boeing 737 Classics fleet to MTU Maintenance since 2011. VivaAerobus has orders for 40 Airbus A320neo, powered by the Geared Turbofan Technology, for which MTU Aero Engines has developed the high-speed low-pressure turbine and the first four stages of the high-pressure compressor. Since the first quarter of 2016, MTU Maintenance Hannover is fully prepared for the disassembly, assembly and testing of the PW1100G-JM.
