Air India Named Strongest Growing South Asian Airline at Changi
Changi Airport Group (CAG) celebrated a year of close partnerships and joint successes with its top airline partners, at the recent Changi Airline Awards 2016. India’s national carrier Air India was among the award-winning airlines and named Top Airline by Absolute Growth in Passenger Carriage (South Asia).  Air India operates 42 weekly flights between India and Singapore, with daily services from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, registering a strong 25 per cent year-on-year growth in passenger carriage on its Singapore routes in 2015. This is largely due to capacity addition by Air India routeexpansion that has taken place in the last two years.
Mr Lim Ching Kiat, Senior Vice President of Airline Development Division, CAG, said, “As the seventh largest country market for Changi Airport, India continues to be a priority link.  The steady increase in Indian passenger traffic in recent years presents an opportunity for airlines connecting to Singapore to further enhance their connections to other cities in India.”
3.4 million passengers travelled between India and Singapore in 2015. Changi Airport is the most connected Southeast Asian airport to India, being linked to 13 cities in India through 404 flights on a weekly basis.  SIA and SilkAir’s has recently increased frequencies to Cochin, Colombo, Hyderabad and Trivandrum and the entrance of low-cost carrier Scoot’s entry to the Indian market from May 2016, will only further increase the traffic to Changi.
