Cessna Selects Rockwell Collins for Citation Longitude Flight Controls
Posted: 2016 May 24

Rockwell Collins will supply its horizontal stabilizer trim and flap actuation systems for Textron Aviation’s new Cessna Citation Longitude super-midsize business jet.

“Cessna needed a flight controls provider that could deliver on the Longitude’s relatively short development schedule, and we were able to bring a low-risk solution that met their needs,” said Greg Irmen, vice president and general manager, Flight Controls and Information Systems for Rockwell Collins.

The horizontal stabilizer trim actuator controls the pitch of the horizontal stabilizer in order to reduce drag and trim the aircraft for optimal efficient flight.

The dual-load-path design for the actuation systems, allows for two independent attachment points between the horizontal stabilizer and the airframe for added safety.

Rockwell Collins will also supply the flap actuator system which extends and retracts the trailing-edge flap system, which is used to increase lift during slow flight.
