Sikorsky’s worldwide fleet of more than 275 S-92 helicopters, crossed the milestone of one million flight hours in May.
The milestone achievement has come within 12 years of operations for the helicopter.
Deliveries of the type commenced in 2004 and over the course of more than a million fleet flight hours of service, the S-92 has an accident rate less than 1/10th the U.S. Civil Multi-Turbine engine helicopter rate.
The S-92 helicopter has been selected by operators in the offshore oil and gas industry, and for civil search and rescue, where it undertakes highly demanding missions in some of the world’s toughest conditions.
The availability rate of the S-92 fleet averages more than 95% each month.
The dual-engine S-92 helicopter has also been made the choice for head of state missions, by eleven nations. Sikorsky was selected to build the next U.S. Presidential Helicopter Fleet, in May 2014, using the S-92 platform.
