Delta Selects Bombardier C Series

Delta Air Lines has placed an important order with Bombardier for its state-of-the-art C Series, jetliner, becoming the U.S. launch customer, for the all new clean-sheet design airplane. Delta has placed firm orders for 75 CS100s with options for 50 more and the aircraft will enter service in the spring of 2018. Delta will also have the option to convert some of its options for the larger CS300.

LATAM Airlines Group Unveils New Global LATAM Brand

LATAM Airlines Group has consolidated LAN Airlines, TAM Airlines and their affiliates under the new global LATAM brand, unveiled last week at simultaneous launch events in countries where the group operates. The aircraft will receive new liveries and from May onwards changes will include new uniforms, airport signage and counter design as well as a consolidated website (www.latam.com).

Delta Signs Up for More A321s

Delta Airlines has placed orders for 37 additional A321s, raising the carrier’s total orders for the type to 82. The CFM56 powered A321s will replace Delta’s older-generation jets, including its MD-88s. The new aircraft will be delivered concurrently with existing A321 orders through 2019. Delta also has 126 A320 Family aircraft in its fleet.

China Eastern Airlines Places 787-9 Order

China Eastern Airlines has signed up for 15 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at nearly US$4 billion at current list prices, for operation on routes between China, North America and Europe. The airline will operate its existing 777-300ERs along with the new 787-9, which will deliver market-leading economics as well as flexibility.

Airbus A321 Sharklet Retrofit Completed by Ameco

Ameco has completed its first Sharklet retrofit on an A320 family aircraft. The retrofit work was performed on an Airbus A321 jetliner at Ameco’s Chengdu facility. The installation of Sharklet wingtip devices was carried out during a scheduled check of the aircraft layover to shorten the turnaround time and the aircraft has since returned to service.
