Lufthansa Technik Increases Cyclean Engine Wash Presence in Asia
Posted: 2015 Dec 17

Lufthansa Technik is expanding the presence for its Cyclean Engine Wash offering in the Asia-Pacific region. The only established engine cleaning system available that can perform an engine clean on an aircraft engine directly at the gate in less than an hour, Cyclean has been making its presence felt as a result of its very low time cost, the large fuel and emissions savings, and the significant reduction in engine maintenance costs. In collaboration with MRO service provider HAECO, the first Cyclean Engine Wash service station is already operational in Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific and its wholly owned subsidiary Dragonair are already making use of the on-site engine cleaning service. "With this cooperation with HAECO in Hong Kong we are further expanding our Cyclean Engine Wash presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The high demand for efficient engine cleaning means that the number of stations will keep growing. We currently serve more than 40 airlines worldwide," says Oliver C. Winter, Head of Engine Life Cycle Services at Lufthansa Technik.

“Using Cyclean Engine Wash, the engine wash turnaround time is reduced by 70 percent and another advantage is the ability for a Cyclean engine wash to be performed anywhere at the airport without a wash-bay restriction,” says Raymond Leung, Vice President Commercial, Line Services, HAECO Hong Kong. The service is now being offered to all at the Hong Kong site and engine wash can be carried out as part of maintenance work, in the transit period between two flights, or overnight.

The service is available for all modern engine models from the major manufacturers General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, CFMI and IAE and more than 40,000 engine washes have been completed using the engine wash solution till date.
