2016 A Year of Milestones for Turbomeca
Posted: 2016 Feb 24

2016 will be a busy year for engine maker Turbomeca, with no fewer than four first flights being planned on new generation rotary wing platforms powered by its new-generation engines: Arrano in the Airbus Helicopters H160, Ardiden 3 in the Kamov Ka-62 and AC352, and Ardiden 1U aboard India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Light Utility Helicopter (LUH). Despite the importance of the planned milestones this year for the company’s engine programmes, the company is having a quiet presence at the Show and is not making any announcements at the Show, this year.

One of the most important new engines for Turbomeca is the Arrano, which made its first flight on Airbus Helicopters H160 on 27th January 2016. This engine has been designed for dual application (civil and military rotorcraft), however, at the moment, there is no other application for this engine. Turbomeca’s Singapore-based subsidiary Turbomeca Asia Pacific (TAP), supports its Southeast Asian customers and was recently moved to its new location in the Seletar Aerospace Park. TAP supports more than 175 operators, with more than 900 engines spread over 17 countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, South-Korea, Taiwan, India, etc).
