EASA Certification Obtained for PW1500G Engine
Posted: 2016 May 21

An important milestone has been achieved by Pratt & Whitney's PurePower Geared Turbofan PW1500G engine following the grant of certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on May 18. The EASA certification covers the PW1519G, PW1520G, PW1524G and PW1525G engine thrust variants.

"The EASA validation of the PW1500G type certificate is a key program milestone enabling Pratt & Whitney to deliver engines for our EIS customer Swiss Airlines," said Graham Webb, vice president, Commercial Engines 17/24K programs.

The PW1500G engine will enter into customer service on the CS100 on July 15 as part of the Swiss Air fleet.

The PW1500G is the sole powerplant for Bombardier’s C Series aircraft family.
