Flexjet Doubles Challenger 350 Aircraft Orders to 40
Posted: 2016 May 24
Business Jet operator Flexjet LLC has officially confirmed a firm order for 20 additional Bombardier Challenger 350 super-midsized business jets at EBACE.
With a Challenger 300 and 350 fleet, that is 40 per cent larger than any other operator; Flexjet is the largest combined operator of the two types worldwide.
The latest order adds to a 20 aircraft order placed with Bombardier by Flexjet in 2013. In an announcement, Flexjet said it was increasing its original order, “Because of unprecedented success with the company’s new Red Label offering that includes the Challenger 350 aircraft.”
“The Bombardier-built Challenger 350 aircraft has been a featured aircraft in our highly popular Red Label offering. This has elevated the expectations of discerning travelers around the world and challenged the industry to do better,” said Michael Silvestro, Flexjet’s Chief Executive Officer. The additional aircraft will allow Flexjet to better cater for increased demand in the future.
As a result of the latest order, Flexjet will have a total of 43 Challenger 300/350 series aircraft flying in its fleet by the end this year. An additional four Challenger 350 aircraft are to be delivered in 2017, with the remainder being delivering over the next five years.
Flexjet’s Challenger 350 aircraft are configured to carry up to eight passengers. The aircraft has a top cruising speed of 528 mph and a transcontinental range of 3,200 nautical miles.
Flexjet has been a longtime operator of Bombardier business jets; operating the Challenger 300 since 1995. Flexjet owners have logged nearly 97 million miles on the type.
