Singapore Airlines will order Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines to power its new order for 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The order is worth approximately US$1.7 billion and the engines will be covered by Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare engine service.
“The Trent 1000 has real momentum in the marketplace, winning more than 60 per cent of engine competitions in the last six years. We are excited and honoured by the continued confidence of Singapore Airlines in the Trent 1000 engine, and in particular our latest and most advanced version, the Trent 1000 TEN,” said Eric Schulz, Rolls-Royce, President – Civil Aerospace.
The SIA Group has already ordered Trent 1000 engines to power its 50 787s, which were ordered in 2013.
SIA subsidiary Scoot has taken delivery of 12 of the new jetliners, which are now in service and also covered by the TotalCare engine care service.
The new SIA order will increase the Rolls-Royce Group’s order book by US$900m.
