The newly formed company called Airbus DS Electronics and Border Security (EBS) is being touted as a single source for key sensor technologies. Currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of Airbus Defence and Space, EBS will offer innovative products for reconnaissance and intelligence, the protection of soldiers and the creation of situation awareness.

Saab Receives Finnish Army BT46 Training Systems Order

Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract with the Finnish Defence Forces for the delivery of BT46 training systems to the Finnish Army. Deliveries will take place during the course of the year. Saab Training & Simulation received the additional order from the customer for an upgrade of the training systems, which will be delivered to the armor brigade at Parolannummi and the KASI site in Sakyla. KASI is the Finnish Army’s mobile Combat Training Centre.

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems to Assist in Modernising Peruvian Submarines

A service order worth approximately €40 million has been awarded by the Peruvian naval shipyard SIMA to Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. A key component of the order is the provision of consulting during the planning and realization of extensive modernization work on four HDW 209/1200 class submarines operated by the Peruvian Navy. The contract period is for seven years and Thyssenkrupp Marine will also provide a number of additional services.

Denmark Confirms F-35 JSF Purchase

Denmark has announced the finalization of its decision to acquire the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) to replace the current F-16 aircraft, at an estimated cost of about 20 billion kroner. The Danish Government will procure 27 F-35A Joint Strike Fighters, after the 5th generation combat type overcame competition from the Eurofighter Typhoon and Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet.
