Elbit Systems Launches Light SPEAR UAS SPJ System

Elbit Systems launched a new self-protection and jamming system for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) called Light SPEAR at the recently concluded Farnborough Air Show. Light SPEAR comprises of air defence systems that are based on Elbit Systems EW and SIGINT systems that are already installed onboard platforms such as fighter jets, helicopters and utility aircraft that are in operational use by the Israeli Air Force and other customers worldwide.

QinetiQ, Thales and Textron AirLand Make UK ASDOT Bid with Scorpion

QinetiQ, Thales and Textron AirLand, have come together to bid for the UK Ministry of Defence’s upcoming Air Support to Defence Operational Training (ASDOT) programme. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to this effect by the CEO’s of the three companies’ CEOs took place at the Farnborough International Airshow. The QinetiQ, Thales and Textron AirLand, consortium is proposing an innovative, cost effective, technologically advanced reliable managed service using the Textron AirLand Scorpion jet equipped with Thales and QinetiQ sensors to provide a broad spectrum of training for all three armed services.

Raytheon AMRAAM Completes 30 Firings from Joint Strike Fighter

Raytheon’s Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM); the only air-to-air missile that is currently cleared to fly on the F-35 has completed more than 30 missile firings from all three variants of the Joint Strike Fighter since testing commenced in 2013. Operational on U.S. Marine Corps F-35Bs since July 2015, AMRAAM integration work on the JSF remains underway to ensure that the missile is fully compatible with each new variant of F-35 software as it is released.

Boeing to Provide U.S. Air Force KC-46 Pegasus Maintenance Training

Training of U.S. Air Force KC-46 Pegasus maintenance personnel will be undertaken by Boeing for the next seven years under a new $78 million contract, which will see Boeing will install maintenance training systems at two Air Force bases.
