First European Aegis Ashore Site Active

The first Aegis Ashore site in Europe; the operationally certified the Aegis Ashore site at Deveselu Air Base in Romania is now actively monitoring the skies of southern Europe for ballistic missile threats. The Aegis system has been deployed to protect U.S. forces and European allies from ballistic missile attack and fulfils Phase II of the European Phased Adaptive Approach. Construction has also begun at the second European Aegis Ashore site, in Poland.

Northrop Grumman Completes U.S. Navy SEWIP Block 3 CDR

The critical design review for an important new U.S. Navy Electronic Warfare (EW) programme has been completed. Northrop Grumman recently announced the completion of the critical design review (CDR) for the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 3 AN/SLQ-32(V)7 electronic warfare system. The SEWIP Block 3 EW system enables ships to counter threats non-kinetically, and will be installed on as many as 50 U.S Navy ships as part of the current budget plan.

Elbit Systems to Modify NAVAIR Test Pilot School C-26s

Elbit Systems of America, LLC, has announced that its subsidiary M7 Aerospace, LLC, will perform modifications on United States Naval Test Pilot School's (USNTPS) C-26 aircraft as part of a $7.5 million Firm, Fixed Price contract awarded to it by the US Navy for installation of an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) upgrade to the aircraft, including the replacement of the existing weather radar with a Finmeccanica, Vixen 500E AESA radar on the C-26.

Boeing Enhances P-8A Maintenance Training Facility

The U.S. Navy’s new P-8 Maintenance Training Facility has received a suite of realistic, interactive training systems from Boeing. Based at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, the P-8 Maintenance Training Facility provides immersive training for those maintaining P-8A Poseidon aircraft around the world. Interactive high-fidelity simulations based on actual mission systems software are provided at the facility.

Austal to Deliver New Australian Pacific Patrol Boats

Austal Ships Pty Ltd has been awarded a $280 million contract by the Australian Ministry of Defence to manufacture and support up to 21 steel-hulled vessels as part of Australia’s new Pacific Maritime Security Program. The new Australian built boats will replace the existing Pacific Patrol Boat fleet, which are approaching the end of their service lives.
