Esterline CMC Electronics Bags Finnish Hawk Glass Cockpit Upgrade

The Glass Cockpit Upgrade of seven more BAE Systems Hawk Mk51 Advanced Jet Trainers operated by the Finnish Air Force will be performed by Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC), after it was selected for the task by Patria, Finland. CMC had earlier been selected by Patria to perform a glass cockpit upgrade of eight Hawk Mk51 advanced jet trainers for the Finnish Air Force in 2007.

Pratt & Whitney PT6A Engine to Power Grob G520NG Aircraft

The Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67A, which is civil certified up to 45,000 feet, has been chosen by Germany's Grob Aircraft as the powerplant for its new G520NG. Both companies have also announced that they are studying new joint opportunities on other aircraft platforms.

Thales and Elettronica Enhance Electronic Warfare Partnership

Thales and Elettronica will explore joint initiatives and pursue growth business opportunities in the Electronic Warfare (EW) segment as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) finalised between the two companies. “The signature of this MoU strengthens cooperation between Thales and Elettronica which relies on successful partnerships in the last decades such as the French and Italian naval programmes Horizon, Fremm and the French Fighter Mirage 2000. This cooperation has allowed the French and Italian defence industry to excel in innovation” said Patrice Caine, Chairman and CEO of Thales.

Elbit Systems Launches Light SPEAR UAS SPJ System

Elbit Systems launched a new self-protection and jamming system for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) called Light SPEAR at the recently concluded Farnborough Air Show. Light SPEAR comprises of air defence systems that are based on Elbit Systems EW and SIGINT systems that are already installed onboard platforms such as fighter jets, helicopters and utility aircraft that are in operational use by the Israeli Air Force and other customers worldwide.
