French Frigate Makes Port of Call in Bangladesh

The French Naval frigate, Aconite which is currently deployed in the Bay of Bengal, made a stop from 10 to 15 May in Chittagong, Bangladesh. This was the first French naval vessel to make a call at Chittagong port for ten years

DCNS Showcases Expertise at CANSEC

DCNS which is committed to developing long-term partnership with Canada, showcased a wide range of technologies and products at the CANSEC exhibition held in Ottawa on May 25 and 26. DCNS has already proposed its existing sea-proven FREMM frigate design to meet the requirement for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) project under the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS). The FREMM frigate design will be adapted to meet Canadian requirements and equipped with DCNS’s SETIS combat management system (CMS).

Airbus Helicopters H135/H145 Selected for UK Military Flying Training

Airbus Helicopters’ H135/H145 has been selected for use in the UK’s Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) by Ascent which is the Aircraft Service Provider. The contract which will remain in force for a period of 17 years is worth an estimated £500 million for Airbus Helicopters. The total value of the rotary wing contract awarded by the UK MOD to Ascent is worth £1.1 billion for the design, delivery and management of a new military helicopter aircrew training service until the early 2030s.

Lockheed Martin to Continue LRASM Integration and Test Program

A US$321.8 million sole-source contract has been awarded by the U.S. Navy to Lockheed Martin for continuation integration and test phase work on the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM). The funding is important as it will be used for continuation of LRASM flight testing and integration onto the U.S. Air Force B-1B and the U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F aircraft. Early operational capability of the LRASM for the U.S. Air Force and Navy is expected in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Pakistan SAR Requirement to be Met with AW139

Leonardo-Finmeccanica has announced that Pakistan will acquire an undisclosed number of AgustaWestland AW139 intermediate twin engine helicopters to meet the nations requirement for a search and rescue (SAR) helicopter. Deliveries of the AW139 to Pakistan are expected to commence from next year. The helicopters will be obtained as part of a fleet renewal programme that will be spread over several batches and also include a logistic support and training package.
