BAE Systems and VOP CZ Team-Up for Czech BMP-2 Replacement

BAE Systems and VOP CZ will work together to offer the CV90 vehicle for the Czech Land Forces. The two firms are pursuing the Czech Republic’s BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicle replacement programme. BAE Systems has also offered significant long-term industrial cooperation benefits to VOP CZ and the Czech defence industry.

Airbus Helicopters Receives Securite Civile EC145 Retrofit Contract

The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) has awarded a contract for retrofit of an avionics upgrade on 35 EC145 helicopters operated by the Securite Civile, to Airbus Helicopters. The helicopters will receive an improved avionics suite, as part of the retrofit allowing them to retain their ability to perform missions in all weather conditions with the highest levels of safety, while at the same time complying with the latest Performance Based Navigation regulations.

First European Aegis Ashore Site Active

The first Aegis Ashore site in Europe; the operationally certified the Aegis Ashore site at Deveselu Air Base in Romania is now actively monitoring the skies of southern Europe for ballistic missile threats. The Aegis system has been deployed to protect U.S. forces and European allies from ballistic missile attack and fulfils Phase II of the European Phased Adaptive Approach. Construction has also begun at the second European Aegis Ashore site, in Poland.

Northrop Grumman Completes U.S. Navy SEWIP Block 3 CDR

The critical design review for an important new U.S. Navy Electronic Warfare (EW) programme has been completed. Northrop Grumman recently announced the completion of the critical design review (CDR) for the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 3 AN/SLQ-32(V)7 electronic warfare system. The SEWIP Block 3 EW system enables ships to counter threats non-kinetically, and will be installed on as many as 50 U.S Navy ships as part of the current budget plan.

Elbit Systems to Modify NAVAIR Test Pilot School C-26s

Elbit Systems of America, LLC, has announced that its subsidiary M7 Aerospace, LLC, will perform modifications on United States Naval Test Pilot School's (USNTPS) C-26 aircraft as part of a $7.5 million Firm, Fixed Price contract awarded to it by the US Navy for installation of an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) upgrade to the aircraft, including the replacement of the existing weather radar with a Finmeccanica, Vixen 500E AESA radar on the C-26.
