Saab Receives Finnish Army BT46 Training Systems Order

Defence and security company Saab has signed a contract with the Finnish Defence Forces for the delivery of BT46 training systems to the Finnish Army. Deliveries will take place during the course of the year. Saab Training & Simulation received the additional order from the customer for an upgrade of the training systems, which will be delivered to the armor brigade at Parolannummi and the KASI site in Sakyla. KASI is the Finnish Army’s mobile Combat Training Centre.

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems to Assist in Modernising Peruvian Submarines

A service order worth approximately €40 million has been awarded by the Peruvian naval shipyard SIMA to Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems. A key component of the order is the provision of consulting during the planning and realization of extensive modernization work on four HDW 209/1200 class submarines operated by the Peruvian Navy. The contract period is for seven years and Thyssenkrupp Marine will also provide a number of additional services.

Denmark Confirms F-35 JSF Purchase

Denmark has announced the finalization of its decision to acquire the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) to replace the current F-16 aircraft, at an estimated cost of about 20 billion kroner. The Danish Government will procure 27 F-35A Joint Strike Fighters, after the 5th generation combat type overcame competition from the Eurofighter Typhoon and Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet.

25th Edition of Euronaval Likely to be Most Succesful Ever

The latest edition of the much awaited Euronaval trade show, that will be underway from 17th to 21st October 2016, will be the 25th edition of the industry trade show. Euronaval was first held in 1968 and since then has grown into a unique international event, organised every even-numbered year in the French capital.

First Polish Air Force Aermacchi M-346 Aircraft Unveiled

The roll-out ceremony for the first of eight Polish Air Force M-346 advanced trainers has taken place at Leonardo-Finmeccanica’s facility in Venegono-Superiore (near Varese) in Italy. A flight test programme to certify bespoke systems chosen by the Polish Air Force such as the brake parachute will now be undertaken on the first aircraft prior to its delivery to the Polish Air Force along with a second example by the end of this year. Deliveries of all eight M-346s ordered by the Polish Air Force will be completed by November 2017.
