David L. Goldfein to be 21st U.S Air Force Chief of Staff

The U.S Air Force Vice Chief of Staff General. David L. Goldfein has been nominated to be the 21st chief of staff of the Air Force, succeeding General. Mark A. Welsh III, who has served in the position since 2012.General Goldfein currently serves as the vice chief of staff, where he presides over the Air Staff and serves as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Requirements Oversight Council and Deputy Advisory Working Group.

Harris Corporation Receives US$88 Million Airborne Jammer Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded a US$88 million order for the supply of electronic jammers for U.S. Navy F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet aircraft to Harris Corporation. Harris will manufacture and deliver 48 on-board electronic warfare jamming systems for the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) program as per a contract modification announced in July 2015; Deliveries are expected to be completed by December 2018.

New Commander Takes Over for U.S. Forces Korea, Combined Forces Command and UN Command

General Vincent K. Brooks has taken over command of U.S. Forces Korea, Combined Forces Command and United Nations Command from Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, who had been in command since October of 2013. The command handover took place at a ceremony co-hosted by Republic of Korea, Minister of National Defense Han MinKoo and Gen. Paul. J. Selva, vice chairman, of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.

India Joins List of Customers for Longbow Radar

Lockheed Martin has received a US$57.1 million foreign military sale contract from the U.S. Army to deliver 12 LONGBOW Fire Control Radar (FCR) systems and spares to the Indian Air Force for its soon to be acquired Boeing AH-64E ‘Apache’ attack helicopters.

First Littoral Combat Ship Deploys Upgraded Fire Scout MCS

Raytheon and the U.S. Navy's Naval Air Systems Command are deploying an advanced mission control hardware and software for the MQ-8 Fire Scout, unmanned helicopter, aboard the Littoral Combat Ship USS Coronado. The USS Coronado is one of the Navy's newest Littoral Combat Ships, designed to operate close to shorelines and the deployment of the Fire Scout aboard the ship extends the fleet's situational awareness.
