First Airbus Helicopters HForce Firing Campaign Concludes

Airbus Helicopters has announced the successful completion of the first round of firing tests with HForce, a generic weapon system in development for the company’s commercial helicopter range. The first round of the firing campaign was conducted on an HForce-equipped H225M at a range in Belgium, from May 25 to June 3. It involved demonstrating the performance of ballistic weapons, including 12,7 mm guns, 70 mm rockets as well as 20 mm cannons.

Raytheon ELCAN Weapon Sight Selected by Australia

Raytheon's ELCAN Specter DR 1-4x dual role weapon sight, has been selected by Australia's Department of Defence for a $54 million contract to deliver the weapon sight to Australian land forces. The contract was bagged by Raytheon’s ELCAN Optical Technologies division after an open competition. Deliveries are to commence later this year.

Roketsan to Integrate Laser Guided Missile CIRIT on H135M and H145M Helicopters

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Roketsan Missiles Industries Inc of Turkey and Airbus Helicopters, to undertake a programme to integrate the 2.75” Laser Guided Missile (CİRİT) on the H135M and H145M rotorcraft from Airbus Helicopters.  Roketsan is the missile house of the 70mm Laser Guided Missile “CİRİT”.

Franco-Italian Effort to Develop Aster 30 Block 1 NT

The Governments of France and Italy have signed a ‘Cooperation Arrangement’ agreement, that will result in the joint development of the Aster 30 Block 1 NT missile. Italy will now join the development programme for the missile, which was started by France in December, last year. The Aster 30 Block 1 NT programme aims to deliver a substantially upgraded and more capable version of the SAMP/T systems currently in service with the French Air Force and the Italian Army. The Aster missile will also be upgraded as part of the programme.

BAE Systems Offers New 7.62 mm HP Ammunition for Export

BAE Systems has announced that its latest 7.62mm High Performance (HP) round, is now available for export to other approved military customers. The 7.62 mm HP round was previously only made available to the British Armed Forces, who have been using it since 2015. The rounds have demonstrated the ability to defeat protection commonly used in light vehicles and aircraft, at approximately double the range of standard 7.62mm ‘Ball’ ammunition, during trials conducted at BAE System’s testing facilities.
