US and India Ink Deal for CBRN Support Equipment

India will buy chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence support equipment worth US$75 million from the U.S. The U.S. State Department has approved the deal that includes the sale of 38,034M50 general purpose masks, 854 pieces each of aprons and alternative aprons, 9,509 Quick Doff Hoods and 114,102 M61filters.

IWI Opens Small Arms Manufacturing Plant in India

Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) and its JV Partner, Punj Lloyd have formally inaugurated India’s first Private Sector Small Arms Manufacturing Plant at Malanpur in India’s northern state of Madhya Pradesh.  The joint venture company, Punj Lloyd Raksha Systems (PLR) will be manufacturing small arms for the Indian Defence Forces and for export.

Next Generation Anti-Ship Missile Order for Saab

The Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) has contracted Saab for production of next generation anti-ship missiles, that will be delivered in the mid-2020s. "With these missiles, the Swedish Armed Forces will have an outstanding capability to defeat any target, on both land and sea at long distances. The system also allows them to engage targets regardless of weather conditions and enemy countermeasures", says Gorgen Johansson, head of Saab business area Dynamics.

Italian Navy FREMM Carabiniere Completes Doha Visit

The South-East Asia and Australian naval campaign of the Italian Navy FREMM (European Multi-Mission Frigate) Carabiniere came to an end following a successful visit of the warship to Doha in April. The South-East Asia and Australia naval campaign, which commenced with the warship departed from La Spezia in Italy on the 20th December 2016, saw the ITSCarabiniere making port visits in Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malesia, Pakistan, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain before finally concluding at Qatar, over a four-month duration. The anti-submarine warship was delivered to the Italian Navy in April 2015 and is the fourth FREMM of ten warships to be commissioned.

Russia Tests Marinised Ka-52K Attack Helicopter

Russian Helicopters has completed the first phase of testing the Kamov Ka-52 attack helicopter in marine conditions. The tests were conducted from late 2016 to early 2017 on two Ka-52K helicopters.
