CATIC and AVIC are displaying the new Cloud Shadow armed unmanned aerial system (UAS) for the first time in Dubai. The Cloud Shadow Reconnaissance-Strike Variant is the first Chinese high-altitude and high speed UAS for export.
“We are exploring the prospects for this new armed UAS family in the region,” a company official tells Daily News, while adding that, “the external payload capacity of 400 kg and a cruising speed of 420 kmph, along with an endurance of five hours is attracting the interest of potential customers.”
The max gross take-off weight of the Cloud Shadow UAS is 3200 kg and it can carry a payload comprising synthetic aperture radar (RADAR) + Electro-Optical (EO) Sensor and four/six missiles or guided bombs.
The UAS has a claimed cruising altitude of 12,500m and a max level flight speed of 520 kmph.
