Aircraft Belonging to Mexico’s Presidential Fleet Up for Sale

: Apr 25, 2019 - : 3:52 am

Aircraft that were part of Mexico’s presidential fleet are on display at the ongoing FAMEX. The aircraft are all up for sale or auction, following a decision by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to sell or auction off 60 planes and 70 helicopters that were in use by the federal government.

Among the planes up for sale are Lear Jet and King Air 350 I aircraft. The presidential Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, Mexico’s version of Air Force One, is also up for sale but is not among the aircraft on display at the event.

Bought in 2016 at a cost US$218 million, the aircraft, which was named Jose Maria Morelos y Pavón, after an 19th century independence leader, left Mexico in December and is now at the Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville. The money generated from the sale of the aircraft would be used for the benefit of the poor in Mexico.
