FIDAE 2018’s Aviation Leaders Forum Attracts Major Names

More than 35 leaders from the world of aviation, including representatives of major airlines and airports in Latin America, will attend the two-day Aviation Leaders Forum that begins April 4. The conference is one of the official events of FIDAE 2018 in Chile.

The discussions at the forum will focus on the future of civil aviation in Latin America and ways to boost investment and innovation in the sector. Among the topics that will be discussed are airport development, operational safety, low cost airlines and cyber-security in aviation.

Victor Villalobos, General Direction of Civil Aviation (DGAC Chile) General Director, will chair the opening session of the conference that will see the participation of Chilean ministers as well as Fang Liu, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO.) The discussion that follows, on “Safety Management System: Challenges for the State and Operator,” will feature Mark Miller, IBM Senior Vice President, Pedro Heilbron, CEO of COPA Airlines, Estuardo Ortiz, JetSmart CEO, Marco Ospina, Secretary of the Latin American Commission of Civil Aviation, and ​​ Alfredo Fonseca, General Director of the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) of Panama.

Nicolás Claude, General Manager, Nuevo Pudahuel, and Boris Olguín, Director of the Airport Direction, Ministry of Public Works, are among those who will participate in a discussion on “Airport Development in Latin America.” Government representatives from Peru, Argentina and Chile will talk on the issue.

Enrique Cueto, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group, Germán Efromovich, President, Board of Directors of Avianca Holdings and Directorate of Aerovías del Continente Americano S.A. Avianca., Antonin Beurrier, ADP Group Deputy CEO and Chief International Officer, and Jaime Binder, Secretary General of the Civil Aviation Board will discuss “Security v/s Facilitation.”

Raymundo Villar, Inmarsat Regional Director – Aviation Latin America, David S. Burkholder, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs, FAA, and Robert Vente, Deputy Assistant Administrator – Office of Global Strategies, TSA, are among those who will speak on “Cybersecurity in International Civil Aviation.”  Airbus and Sabre Airline Solutions representatives are also expected to take part in the discussion.

JetSmart CEO Estuardo Ortiz, Sky Airline CEO Holger Paulmann, Alex Glock, Vice President Sales Latin America and Caribbean of      Bombardier Commercial Aircraft and Binder will discuss the challenges of low-cost airlines as a growing sector and the potential impact of this on security. Alex Covarrubias, Commercial Vice President for SITA Airports, and Karla Rena, Executive Director (IPAC) Pan-American Civil Aviation Institute, are among the others who will attend the conference.
